Experience Design Mentor & Instructor at San Diego Portfolio Studio

When we lived in San Diego, I had the privilege of instructing at Portfolio Studio, an award-winning portfolio advancement center that helps designers build new, conceptually based work or polish up what they already have. There are no grades, no tests, no long-term commitments, and no big costs.

The Studio is small and classes have no more than a dozen people - the perfect size for personalized attention. And, their nimble size lets them change and stay connected with an industry that is always moving.

SDPS students took home 32 National, District and Local ADDYS this year—including the coveted National BEST OF SHOW Award!

The Benefits of Mentoring:

  • Sharing my passion with students and instructors in the creative industry who have the same energy and drive about design.

  • Staying connected with other professionals in my field keeps me up to date on latest industry trends, tools, and best practices. Never stop learning!

  • The opportunity to work on speaking and presentation skills.

  • The warm fuzzy feeling when a student reaches out to tell me about a new job/project or perhaps needs a little career guidance.

Stephanie has been a big influence in my design career.

Her wealth of knowledge and eye for design is aspiring and motivational. As my prior instructor and mentor, it’s rare to see a world-class instructor share abundance of knowledge in user-centered design, UX/XD, strategy, and visual design to her students to help them grow. She always has the right design solutions to complex problems to raise the bar. A memorable thing she said is ‘Design to make the best experience ever’. I loved her love for design and the ability to change someone’s life through design.
